Lars, why did you choose Localyse?
‘I chose Localyse because during my Geo Media & Design training, I developed a love for mapping tools, and Google is the best-known provider in the world in this respect. To me, it seems super cool to have the opportunity to work with this. In addition, I did not personally want to work directly with mapping tools, but I want to support people or help them get involved with mapping tools so that organisations can solve their challenges’.
What intrigues you about Google?
‘Google is one of the largest, if not the largest, tech company in the world. The possibilities therefore seem to me enormous and possibly even endless. For me, being part of this technological growth is a great honour!’
What are your three favourite locations in the world?
‘I start with the place where I feel most at home in the whole world. The picturesque village of Leimuiden. This small village on the border of North and South Holland is the place where I was born and bred. I have lived there all my life and I am a real village boy. I love the “us knows us” mentality and here I feel most at ease.
I also want to mention the place that I could call my home for four months thanks to an internship that I had to do for school, Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It is a city which means little to most people, but for me it is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to. The medieval centre makes you think you are about 600 years back in time. The people are very hospitable and there is a pleasant atmosphere. I would certainly recommended it if you ever want to go on a city trip.
The last place I would like to mention is football stadium De Kuip in Rotterdam. As a Feyenoord supporter, I have many wonderful memories. For example, the latest championship in the 2016/2017 season.
When I think of these places, then I get a smile on my face from the memories!’
