Localyse prevents fines by improving Google Maps even further

PRESS RELEASE – Bodegraven October 12, 2020

Localyse, premier Google Cloud partner in the Benelux, which has grown from their focus on Google Maps APIs, now offers a new service. Normally Localyse has little to do with the “public” Google Maps app, as they focus more on business use of the technology and the APIs behind it. Many organisations do not know how changes can be made to Google Maps. That’s why Localyse can accommodate them with this new service called ‘Improve Google Maps’.

Improving Google Maps?

Over the years Localyse received many questions about certain locations that were misrepresented in Google Maps. This is the first service that Localyse offers with which they can influence Google Maps. Various municipalities, shopping centers and location owners contacted Localyse because (car) roads, Points of Interest (POIs) or certain building contours did not appear correctly in Google Maps.

For example, names as the Municipality of Utrecht, Estate Amelisweerd and restaurant De Veldkeuken contacted Localyse. The estate was not properly displayed in Google Maps, the hiking trails were labeled as local (car) roads. Visitors who navigated to the restaurant by car, were sent over the hiking trails and through the middle of the estate, which resulted in many fines and unsafe traffic situations!

“everything is much more clear and better organized – Martin Vastenhout Municipality of Utrecht”

Localyse has been able to place this location in Google Maps completely and correctly, so that visitors by car are now simply navigated to the parking lot, as it should be, given they have to continue their last part on foot. Watch the video of the municipality of Utrecht to see how Localyse ensures fewer fines.
