Picnic: Fast, sustainable delivery with efficient collaboration via Google ChromeOS
Since its founding in 2015, Picnic has offered an online shopping service where customers in the Netherlands, Germany and France have their groceries delivered the next day. By processing orders on request and delivering exclusively with electric vehicles, Picnic guarantees freshness and sustainability.

More efficient team management with Chromebooks
Previously, employees used their own devices, leading to performance gaps, limited security capabilities, and productivity and management challenges. That has changed since the switch to Chromebooks within the Customer Success Operations team.
“Before Chromebooks, everyone brought their own hardware. That led to inconsistencies in quality, productivity and security. Now we see higher productivity, devices run smoothly, and all apps are clearly and securely available,”
– Amber Rozenberg, Digital Workspace Product Owner, Picnic
The switch to Google ChromeOS and centralizing user management via Google Workspace has led to a uniform, secure and stable working environment. The IT team reports that the number of technical issues has dropped dramatically, and device management now takes much less time.

Fast onboarding and cost savings
New employees receive a Chromebook with all necessary software and access rights pre-installed. The onboarding process is therefore completed within an hour, meaning employees are fully productive on their first working day.
“We don’t have to reinstall or wipe Chromebooks during staff changes, which saves us at least an hour per device. Given our growth from 400 to more than 1,000 employees in four years, that adds up quickly,”
– Amber Rozenberg

Full integration of the Google ecosystem
With the help of partner Google Cloud Localyse Picnic has leveraged the full potential of Google Cloud, Workspace and Maps. Even non-technical teams are increasingly discovering opportunities within Google’s capabilities.
“Thanks to Localyse we stay informed about new features”
– Amber Rozenberg

Ready for the future with Generative AI
Picnic is currently investigating how Generative AI within Google Workspace and ChromeOS can support routine tasks, for example in the warehouse or during delivery routes. Applications such as Gemini are seen as valuable tools to improve both customer interactions and internal processes.
“We worry less about performance, security or storage. Google Workspace is easy to manage, well documented and everything is centralized in one admin portal. It just works.”
– Amber Rozenberg
With a view to further growth, Picnic trusts that the Google ecosystem will grow without additional management burden – a solid foundation for the future.
